48 hours in Washington, D.C.

In February I went to Washington, D.C. for a whirlwind weekend. After American Airlines lost my suitcase in January, they gave me a measly flight credit and I used it for this trip. While in D.C., I saw a fox (didn't ask him what he said), some snow, the back of the Lincoln Memorial and the entire National Museum of American History.

I missed the Shakespeare museum and the cupcakes in Georgetown. My lazy ass also missed the hours-long window for breakfast in bed. I stayed at the most beautiful hotel, the Willard Intercontinental, pictured above, and had the most perfect time. I wish I could remember where I ate and drank and had coffee and all that. I do remember brunch, but only because it was at the Willard's French bistro CafĂ© du Parc. Good food. Really good cocktails. Really not cheap for brunch. I think I remember really slow service. But it is a hotel restaurant and it is really close to the White House, so there's that. I also ate at Chili's, but that place doesn't count, ever.

Hopefully I can make my way back soon to see all the things I missed and crush the above-mentioned, singular form of amnesia I suffered on my last trip to, as Charles Dickens called it, the city of magnificent intentions.

Highlights: A drunk girl told me I look like Lady Mary from Downton Abbey.
Song: "Show Me" by Kid Ink ft. Chris Brown because, well... just because.
